Wellington's brand-new convention center Tākina is set to feature state-of-the-art audio and visual technology that we can be proud to offer to local, national, and international industry professionals and suppliers for future years.
Tākina's growing team of skilled audio-visual specialists is looking forward to providing world-class services, quality delivery, and seamless coordination. Aiming to meet the needs of clients, their audiences, third-party suppliers, and the workers from Futureworks LTD.
Tākina Events' technology team Managers Tom O'Sullivan (Manager of Audio-Visual Event Services) and Andrew Bruce (Manager of Creative Technology and Development) are collaborating closely with local AV design and installation specialists Futureworks Ltd and Lighthaus Limited. The collaboration provides the opportunity to ensure that the latest technology is smartly implemented, providing a multifunctional, quality product that meets the Australasian and International market demand.
Tom O'Sullivan says, "Our expansive team has the experience, knowledge, and technical understanding to oversee the management of audio-visual services through a qualified approach, from allocating suitable in-house services to bolstering service offerings to meet demand through engaging the wide array of superb specialist industry suppliers that Wellington and NZ have to offer."
The internal technical fit-out of the building has already begun, and a variety of 'soft-launch' events have been scheduled. Providing the opportunity to thoroughly test, tune and focus the AV and lighting systems in real-world situations well before the first official events in early June 2023. This will see clients able to take advantage of the new set up immediately.
The proposed installation includes hi-spec 20,000-lumens laser projectors for impactful onscreen visual display, energy efficient long-life LED stage, room lighting fixtures, and mounted pre-tuned PA systems. A highly specialised hearing assistance system has also been factored in, allowing attendees to connect their personal device to the WiFi and easily select an appropriate channel and volume level. The installation will cover the main and peripheral function spaces without the time, cost, and labour associated with installing and removing such systems on a per-event basis, making for a highly cost-effective model for clients.
The approach to Tākina's technical design complements with the existing technical offering model available in Te Papa’s various spaces. This allows for a more seamless customer experience when booking additional event spaces to accommodate larger international conferencing delegations.
